Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Checked out Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Friday night, and it was a great flick. Just so fun and imaginative, and Depp's performance was simply amazing as always. He's such a talented actor. Burton's surreal art direction and gothic style (though lighter in this film) are always welcome touches, and his plays on social stereo types and simple sarcastic whit are great inspirations.

If you're looking for a fun flick, something to enjoy for it's sheer simplicity and magical nature, check out Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The ever hot Helena Bonham Carter (Big Fish, Planet of the Apes, Fight Club) is also featured as Charlie's mom, and Christopher Lee (The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, pretty much everything else. Seriously, check out all the stuff he's been in on IMDB) plays a dark character as he's always so good at doing. A character who could be good or means well but comes off as being a villian or threatening character, though greatly important to the central theme. Another amazing actor.

Let's also not forget the incredible score by Danny Elfman, complimented well by the crazy performances of teh Umba Lumbas.

Oh yeah, the full trailer for Corpse Bride is also shown with this flick, Burton's next feature length claymated film. Releases late September I think, and will feature the voices of Depp, Carter, Lee, and Elfman.
